Motorcyclist Dies After Hitting Police Car in Goodyear Arizona

A tragic accident occurred in Goodyear, AZ, on Tuesday when a motorcyclist collided with a police vehicle near Estrella Parkway and West Van Buren Street, resulting in the rider’s death.
Many Van Buren intersections are dangerous for motorcyclists in Goodyear and other cities.
The motorcyclist, identified as 38-year-old Jacob Vela, struck the front left side of a Goodyear police car that was responding to an emergency call at the time.
Following the collision, first responders quickly arrived on the scene and transported Vela to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The police officer involved in the crash was also taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries.
The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the incident to determine the exact circumstances that led to the collision. At this time, officials do not believe that impairment played a role in the crash, though they continue to review the details surrounding the event.
