Fatal Hit and Run Accident Kills Pedestrian Grandview and N 28th

PHOENIX, AZ –

A tragic hit-and-run incident resulted in the death of an elderly pedestrian near N 28th St and E Grandview Rd on Sunday, reported by local news.

Other Grandview intersections nearby are known to be dangerous for local pedestrians.

The suspect, 27-year-old Alberto Chilil Santos, was allegedly driving east on E Grandview Rd when he veered into oncoming traffic, mounted the sidewalk, and struck 81-year-old Eduardo Ramirez Jimenez at approximately 6 a.m. Sadly, rescue teams pronounced Jimenez dead at the scene.

Investigators found a broken piece of a Chevrolet Colorado at the crash site, which led them to a nearby apartment complex. There, they discovered a Chevrolet Colorado with front-end damage, belonging to Santos.

Santos confessed to authorities that he had consumed five to six beers between 11 p.m. and 1:30 a.m. He claimed he fled the scene because he was unaware he had hit someone. Please be careful riding a bike or walking at any Phoenix intersection.

When police administered a breathalyzer test, Santos’s blood alcohol concentration (BAC) was 0.034. However, a subsequent blood test might indicate that his BAC was over the legal limit of 0.08 at the time of the accident.

As a result, Santos was arrested and charged with manslaughter and leaving the scene of a collision. This incident underscores the severe consequences of impaired and reckless driving, highlighting the importance of road safety and responsible behavior behind the wheel.
