Mesa Red Light Multi Vehicle Accident Results in 2 Deaths
MESA, AZ –
A tragic multi-vehicle collision claimed the lives of two individuals late Friday morning on U.S. Highway 60 in southwest Mesa, as reported by FOX 10 Phoenix.
The crash occurred around 7:30 a.m. at the exit ramp for Country Club Drive.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS), the victims were inside a red car that had stopped at a red light on the ramp.
A white pickup truck, driven by a suspect who allegedly ran the red light, crashed into the rear of the red car.
The impact propelled the car into a nearby SUV, which was also stopped at the light.
DPS confirmed that both occupants of the red car died at the scene. Authorities have not yet determined whether additional passengers were in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
First responders transported the drivers of the pickup truck and the SUV to a nearby hospital for treatment of their injuries.
The extent of their injuries remains unclear, but once again wreckless driving causes deaths in Mesa car accident.
The investigation is still ongoing, but officials suspect that the driver of the pickup truck was impaired at the time of the collision.
